iPhone 16 passes durability test with flying colors

It’s been a while since the iPhone 16 launched, so you may have been anxiously waiting for JerryRigEverything’s trademark “durability test” all this time. Well, the wait is finally over.

The cheapest iPhone of the 2024 generation is now subjected to scratching, burning, and bending (hopefully not on that last one). If you have your popcorn handy, here’s the video.

In case you couldn’t watch for whatever reason, here’s a quick summary of what went down. Apple’s Ceramic Shield glass protection for the screen does scratch at level 6 on the Mohs hardness scale with deeper grooves at level 7 just like any other glass, but the scratches are way less pronounced.

The frame is aluminum (85% of which is recycled), the screen takes an open flame and survives, and finally – the phone is unbendable, both from the front and from the back.
