Gurman: Apple is aiming for big changes to Siri in the next two years

Since its debut in 2011, Siri has never lived up to the hype and Apple is reportedly working to bring its digital assistant on par with competitors like OpenAI’s ChatGPIT and Google Gemini. latest newspapers from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman Details Apple’s ambitious plan to overhaul Siri with more capable generic AI features and rely on in-house AI large language models (LLMs).

Gurman specified that Apple will update Siri in phases, with the first being ChatGPT integration into Siri in December this year. That significant addition has been described as a “Band-Aid” for Siri and is intended to buy Apple more time until its own LLM and Generative AI feature is ready to be fully integrated Go.

Gurman also suggests that Apple will likely unveil its new Siri engine at WWDC in June 2025, while regular users should expect to see that version of Siri in spring 2026 with the iOS 19.4 release.
