The plastic body of the HMD Fusion is available in only one colorway. However, it does allow you to repair the phone’s display, back case, battery, and charging port yourself.
Additionally, HMD Fusion smartphones feature “smart outfits” in the form of modular accessories to increase the phone’s versatility across use cases such as casual, flashy, and gaming.
On the other hand, CMF phone 1, (Review) has a plastic body with a unique feature: a detachable back panel secured with screws and a rotating wheel that can be used to attach accessories. There are multiple color options for the swappable rear panel, and accessories include a kickstand, a card holder, and a lanyard.
While the HMD Fusion has an IP54 rating, the CMF Phone 1 only has an IP52 rating for protection against dust and water splashes.

Considering the price, the display specifications of the HMD Fusion are average. It features an HD+ IPS LCD panel that only supports a 90Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, the CMF Phone 1 offers a full-HD+ AMOLED panel that supports a 120Hz refresh rate, which should provide a clear and smooth viewing experience.

Under the hood, the HMD Fusion draws power from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC, which is a good chipset for midrange devices. However, the CMF Phone 1 features the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC, a flagship chipset that powers premium phones like the Oppo Reno 12, Motorola Razr 50, and others.
Although we haven’t tested the performance of the HMD Fusion yet, we do know the performance of the CMF Phone 1. In our testing, the CMF Phone 1 scored 6,42,187 points on AnTuTu, and on Geekbench, it scored 1,015 points in the single-core test and 2,867 points in the multi-core test.

The HMD Fusion has a better camera setup than the CMF Phone 1. It has a 108 MP main shooter compared to the CMF Phone 1’s 50 MP snapper. However, the CMF Phone 1 supports 4K video capture quality, while the HMD Fusion only supports 1080p resolution despite the higher megapixel count. Both phones have a 2MP depth sensor.
On the front, the HMD Fusion has a 50MP shooter, which is a better camera than the 16MP snapper on the CMF Phone 1. You can expect detailed, social media-ready selfies from the HMD Fusion, but the CMF Phone 1 also won’t let you down when it comes to selfies.

Both the phones come with similar battery capacity and charging speed. You get a 5,000mAh battery on both the phones which can easily last a whole day on a single charge with moderate usage. Also, the 33W charging speed is average but standard in this price range.
During our testing, the CMF Phone 15 lasted 11 hours and 42 minutes on the PCMark battery test and took 63 minutes to fully charge from 20 percent battery level. We have not yet tested the battery life and charging speed of the HMD Fusion.
