In a case of a month, ITEL has introduced two budget -friendly smartphones. Recently, we reviewed ITEL Zeno 10, with a moderately painted-pack handset with an aggressive starting sticker price of Rs 5,699. In this review, we are checking the Itel A80, which provides relatively better cameras, more storage and a large performance, starting at Rs 7,099. But is it considering, especially if you consider rivals like Redmi A4 5G (review) that also provide 5G connectivity in the same sub-Rs 10K segment? Let’s know.
Decision
The ITEL A80 entry-level is a decent smartphone for customers who want a reliable smartphone with a long performance to read and see the material. The phone also has decent cameras, although it is best to manage expectations. However, no 5G support can attract customers to rivals, such as Redmi A4 5G. If it is not a deluge, the Itel A80 is a good initial point.
Design and performance
Unlike the attractive Kolorway of Itel Zeno 10, Itel A80 has a more subtle and minimal appearance. The phone is available in three color options, which is unusual in this price range. I reviewed the Wave Blue variants, which featured a brush pattern on the back that adds a touch of elegance. Other options – Glacier White and Sandstone Black – each shows a different pattern, which catering for diverse user preferences.

All three color variants share the same design language, with back housing dual camera sensors with two cutouts. The camera module design takes inspiration from the latest iPhone 16 (review), although the LED flash is strangely larger to create a third sensor impression. Even rounds from the corners and flat edges.
smart fone | Thickness | weight | IP rating |
Itel a80 | 8.54 mm | 195 grams | IP54 |
Redmi A4 5G | 8.22 mm | 212 grams | IP52 |
The build is plastic, which does not feel cheaper than any standards. The sides include normal port and button selections, such as USB-C and headphone jack at the bottom, while the power button and volume rockers rest to the right. The left spine of the smartphone includes SIM tray (dual sim card supported).
Weight and size are ergonomic for my grip, especially since I prefer smartphones with large displays. ITEL A80 has a 6.67 -inch IPS display with a common hardware option for smartphones in this range, HD+ resolution (1,600 × 720 pixels) and 120Hz refresh. This also means that the new ITEL does not break any base based on the smartphone experience. The display provides sufficient glow with decent colors, but is not as vibrant as is found on the AMOLED screen.

I tested the performance by playing several videos on YouTube, and the quality of the picture was decent for the price. However, the phone only supports L3 Widavin Playback, which means that you cannot stream online video in full HD resolution. This limit is common among smartphones in this segment and does not separate Itel A80.
smart fone | Display | Peak glow |
Itel a80 | 6.67-inch IPS | 500 Nits |
Redmi A4 5G | 6.88 inch IPS | 600 Nits |
In particular, a small LED light under the Black Bezel at the top of the display in the Itel A80 is tucking in a judicious manner. It lights when charging or when the front flash is capable of selfie. Although not highly versatile, it is a bizarre (read: fun) in addition to a smartphone in the sub-RS 10K segment.

Camera
Like most of the budget smartphones in the segment, the Itel A80 offers a minor camera setup, the headline by the 50MP sensor. The rear panel also includes a secondary camera lens, although it is more about the style on the substance. The 8MP selfie camera is placed within a hole-punch cutout, usually offering a refreshing change from the old waterdrop not used by several brands. The hole-punch design provides a more modern beauty and helps to create a cleaner, more immersive display by reducing the appearance of thick bezels.

Depending on the performance, Itel A80 was the best decent. While the smartphone provides many features to play, its images typically have a lack of colors and details. You can manage some crisp shots under enough light conditions, although low-light photography struggles a lot. In addition, the phone also struggles with human subjects, sometimes occupying inconsistent skin complexes. Even portrait mode requires improvement, as you will see below me below.
In contrast, Redmi A4 5G gave better results – at least in a day’s position. Here is a quick side-by-side comparison of two smartphone cameras.
Day light
As I have mentioned, ITEL A80 takes decent shots in the daylight, which is true here. Its image looks more vibrant and aesthetically pleasing, although the image of Redmi is more true life. Both smartphones also occupy the same level of expansion.

Picture
ITEL’s portrait mode requires improvement, as the phone struggles to balance excessive light and hold the exact color. It is also inconsistent to find out the enlargement around the subject.

The picture shot with Redmi A4 5G is relatively better, although this is also perfect.
Selfie
Similarly, Itel A80 again struggles with the skin color and facial details. It also added a strange pink color to his face.

The Redmi A4 5G selfie performance is consistent as a portrait shot. However, it also softens facial details, which may appeal to some users.
Low-light (with night mode)
During my review, Itel A80 struggled to focus on subjects without night mode, possibly due to a software bug. However, the issue was not present when the night mode was enabled.

In low-light situations, the ITEL A80 photos feature the major shade, and the description sketches appear. On the other hand, Redmi A4 5G catches enough light and provides better overall visibility, although its expansion is not as strong as strong.
Performance and software
The ITEL A80 ITEL Zeno draws power from the unisoc T603 chipset similar to Zeno 10, but provides high RAM capacity of 4GB. Its base version includes 128GB EMMC 5.1 storage, which may look impressive on paper. However, this memory is slower than the UFS 2.2 in both standard sequential reed and right performance tests. Additionally, the phone abandons 5G support, which can be a delivery for customers.
smart fone | Pre-installed apps | Software update (Android + Safety) |
Itel a80 | 41 | 2 years security |
Redmi A4 5G | 59 | 2 years OS + 4 Year Security |
For day-to-day work, such as basic browsing, texting, calling and light gaming, Itel A80 is enough, although you can sometimes notice some lags and stars. I did not face significant performance issues, although the phone takes a long time to boot sometimes, which can be annoying over time.

Since the smartphone is using the “Go” version of Android 14, you do not get many third-party apps, but there are many ownership applications that can serve any purpose or not. In my brief use, I was attracted to regular Google apps instead of using ITEL solutions to browse the Internet or download the app.

Similarly, its gaming experience is average as the brand wants to reach the entry level users. It is best to manage expectations to play titles like BGMI and COD Mobile on this device. On the other hand, if you enjoy some popular feel-jaw title, such as Ludo or Metro Surfers, you can expect a good performance.
Otherwise, the performance of Itel A80 is quite modest based on benchmark. The UNISOC T603 did not rent well against rival devices run by Qualcomm and MediaTek chipset in all synthetic benchmarks.
Battery
ITEL A80 packs a standard 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging support. Battery backup is reliable, thanks to the power-skilled LCD screen of the phone with an HD+ resolution.

Given the minor hardware, users can expect a full day of use with basic functions. Another positive charging is the joint of the USB-C port, which is a welcome upgrade on the old micro-USB port, commonly found in budget devices.

However, a slow 10W charging speed can be a decrease, especially when competition of smartphones in the same price range provides a rapid 18W charging solution. It took about 2.5 hours to charge the phone from 20 to 100 percent.
smart fone | Battery size | Charging Time (20 to 100 percent) |
Itel a80 (10W) | 5,000mah | 153 minutes |
Redmi A4 5G (1 ()) | 5,160mAh | 99 minutes |
final call
Overall, ITEL A80 is a decent procurement for entry-level customers who are looking for a smartphone with a long screen to see YouTube shorts, readings and texting/ calling. Its cameras are also decent, but it is best to manage expectations. As mentioned, ITEL 5G abandons support, which helps reduce the cost of this device. If it is a Delicker, Redmi A4 5G is a better option, if only you use Jio SIM card.
If you are not worried about 5G and looking for a simple, easy-use phone for yourself or your parents, Itel A80 is a decent entry-level with its relatively more affordable value tag Acts as an alternative to.
