The Vivo S20 series is expected to debut in China very soon, considering the magnitude of leaks in recent times. The lineup is rumoured to debut later this month but the company is yet to confirm officially. While we wait for the launch announcement, a possible Vivo S20 has now appeared on the Geekbench platform, revealing key hardware details.
The Vivo S-series is the brand’s mid-range offering with premium designs and specifications. The lineup promises to offer superior cameras.
Possible Vivo S20 appears on Geekbench
- The Vivo phone that appeared on Geekbench bears the model number V2429A. This is believed (via) to be the vanilla Vivo S20 as it also appeared on 3C certification and TENAA platform with the same model number.
- The benchmark listing reveals the phone has managed to score 1222 in the single-core round and 3417 in the multi-core segment.
- In comparison, the Vivo S19 scored 920 in the single-core segment and 3414 in the multi-core round when it appeared on the platform back in May.
- The phone runs on Android 15 OS and packs 14.9 GB (could be marketed as 16GB) RAM but there might be other options at launch.
- The chipset section mentions ‘crow’ much like the predecessor, which featured the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset. Rumours hint the S20 will have the same SoC.
- The SoC has four cores clocked at 1.80GHz, 3 cores at 2.40GHz, and a single core at 2.63GHz.
Vivo S20: what we know so far
The Vivo S20 appeared on 3C certification recently and this revealed the phone would come with 90W wired charging. In comparison, the predecessor featured 80W. The hardware details of the phone were revealed via the TENAA listing.
- Display: The Vivo S20 is expected to sport a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 2800 X 1260 pixels resolution and 1073.74 million colour depth. In comparison, the predecessor featured a slightly bigger 6.78-inch panel.
- Processor: The handset is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, similar to Vivo S19.
- Memory: The phone could be available in multiple variants: 8GB/12GB/16GB RAM and 128GB/256GB/512GB/1TB storage variants.
- Battery: The Vivo phone may house a 6,500mAh battery with 90W wired charging. In comparison, the predecessor had a 6000mAh cell and 80W charging.
- Cameras: The Vivo S20 could have a 50MP + 8MP dual camera setup on the back and a 50MP lens on the front for selfies. This is the same setup as the predecessor.
- Security: The handset could feature an in-display fingerprint sensor and face unlock for security.
Besides the standard Vivo S20, there could also be a Vivo S20 Pro. The specifications of the alleged Pro variant have recently surfaced online, hinting at the possible improvements over the predecessor. The phone is tipped to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ SoC, a 6.67-inch 1.5K display, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens and a slightly smaller 5,500mAh battery.
The Vivo S-series is limited to China market but the models are usually rebranded as Vivo V-series models in specific global markets, including India. We can speculate the same might happen with the new Vivo S20 lineup as well.
