Asus introduced a new version under its TUF gaming laptop lineup last month, which is for the current TUF Gaming F16 (FX607VU) model from last year. The refreshing model retains most design and hardware aspects but with a low-level internal at a more affordable price point. In place of the 13th Zen Intel Core i7-13620H, ASUS has moved forward with Intel Core 5 210H, which has been added to an entry-level version of NVIDIA’s RTX 3050A and DDR4 memory.

In particular, since its launch, the laptop has cut the price of Rs 80,990 to Rs 76,990. This first presents it as a more affordable option for laptop buyers who want to stick to a certain budget. But does it provide the right price for the asking price? let’s take a look.

Design and performance

The chassis of Tuf Gaming F16 looks solid, and the overall profile is as thick as a budget will expect from the gaming laptop. Its weight is about 2.2 kg, which is not bad for a 16 -inch machine, although if you are traveling with it you have to consider charging brick and power cord.

The ‘Mecha Gray’ finish looks very average, but I am happy to see that it does not attract many fingerprints and it is easy to clean. There are microscopic design elements, such as the keyboard decks and small triangles on the corners of the lid with the tUF logo in the middle and other branding elements on the trackpad.

Asus claims that Tuf Gaming F16 has been well tested to meet MIL-STD-810H standards for vibration and impact resistance, as well as performance at high altitude and also at high and low temperatures. In terms of hardness, keyboard decks and lids provide very little for no flakes, which are good to see. Even the hinge is strong, and it is quite easy to open the laptop with just one hand. Opening the lid reveals some LEDs posted in the back in the X pattern to indicate power and standby functions.

The 16 -inch display comes with a 16:10 aspect ratio, giving you an additional room, while bezels are quite thin on the top and sides. The screen has an IPS panel with FHD+ Resolution (1920 × 1200), 144Hz refresh rate and 3MS response time. Display brightness can go up to 300 knots, which is serving most tasks, especially for indoor use. The matte finish of the display also helps in cutting the reflections, which is appreciated.

This color is not going to blow your brain in terms of breeding and vice versa, but it is usually a sacrifice at this price point. Overall, the screen reaction is quite good, however, because I had a great time that was undergoing some sweaty sessions, which was heroic and apex legends.

The keyboard on Tuf Gaming F16 comes with single-zone RGB backlighting, which consists of a transit finish the WASD keys. Even there is a dedicated numpad, which can be useful for data entry nerds, although the key is quite small. The rest of the keyboard is well applied with proper vacancy with volume control, mike togle and Armary crates dedicated to the Armary crate. The keyboard just feels fine to type with a decent trip, but I want it to be a bit more touchable because the key seems emotional. Similarly, the trackpad serves as an intention, with good trekking and reaction, with the support of all Windows gestures.

Port, audio and connectivity

Tuf gaming F16 comes with lots of ports. On the right is a single USB 3.2 General 1 Type-A5GBPS port, while the rest is placed on the left. Dual-Botum firing speakers are loud and can be used to watch videos or movies, but especially high amounts of depth and clarity. Like most laptops, ASUS has supported the Dolby Atomos and Hi-Rease Audio as well as two-way AI noise cancellation for cancellation. There is also a basic 720p webcam unit for video calls, but it only works well in a well -light environment.

Display

Intel’s core 5 210h, which is essentially part of the Rapter Lake-H Refresh, gives strength to the laptop. It features eight core (four performance + four efficiency) and 12 threads and up to 4.8GHz. With a rated TDP of 45W, the chip supports both DDR4 and DDR5 memory.

The laptop comes with 16GB DDR4 memory at 3200mHz as standard. While I appreciate the option of swaping or adding more memory, Asus should have gone with DDR5, as the pricing has become stable in the last few years.

Assat GPU is an NVidia RTX 3050A, a tuned version of the original mobile RTX 3050. Instead of using ampere architecture, it uses GPU Ada Lovelace Chip, as with the RTX 40 series. However, GPU comes with only 4GB Vram in a low CUDA core count and 64-bit bus, making it very inferior to the original.

Coming down to the synthetic benchmark, the laptop scored 10,966 points in Cinebench R23 multi-core and 1,754 in single-core, reflecting good multi-threaded performance, but reflects some minor single-threaded capabilities. Cinebench R24 score (566 multi-core, 104 single-core) reflect a uniform trend. In Geekbench 6, it obtains 7,591 points (multi-core) and 2,343 (single-core), allowing it to enter the entry-level gaming and creative workload, but is not the fastest in its orbit.

Geekbench 6 AI with benchmark, CPU scored 4,632 on the volume of ONNX and 7,473 in Openvino, showing that AI-related workload is possible, it is not a special AI machine.

In the performance of graphics, in the 3DMark benchmark, the TUF gaming F16 scored 5,887 in the time detective and 2,744 in the time spying peak, showing that it could handle the game on 1080p with acceptable performance. Fire strike results (13,784 points in total, 6,283 in the peak, and 2,817 in ultra) suggest that it is not a high -end gaming powerhouse. Finally, the night ride lighter at 41,652 indicates strong performance for gaming and eSports title.

It is interesting to note that the company’s gaming V16 laptop has the same chip, but rapidly with DDR5 RAM and RTX 4050. For this reason, the Tuf Gaming F16 falls behind in some benchmarks.

Tuf gaming F16 laptop distributes mixed gaming performance. This shows strong results in some titles while struggling with greater demand, inferior sports.

In our test, the laptop managed to score around 72 FPS in GTA V, which felt quite smooth with high-end settings such as 4x MSAA, TXAA, and Anisotropic X16 filtering enables. This shows that F16 handles the old, well -customized title well, offering fluid gameplay without the need to compromise a lot on visual loyalty. Forza Horizon 5 sets to high with extreme presets and high tracing, the performance falls to 26 FPS. This clearly pushes the hardware to its limit. Saying that, this game is quite customized, and for a smooth experience, reducing settings in high/medium and enabling DLS should greatly improve the frame rate.

Surprisingly with Rica Rictenction and Frame Generation Saksham with Rice Tresing sets for Ultra, the laptop managed 34 FPS in cyberpank 2077. This is impressive, given how the demand for sports can be. Of course, for frequent smooth experience, players may want to reduce ray tracing from medium and other visual options.

As expected, the TUF gaming in Valaorant in Gaming F16 is pulling into approximately 225 FPS. Even with MSAA 2x and high graphics settings being enabled, this frame rate makes laptop ideal for competitive players, who are looking for ultra-smooth, low-optimization performance.

In terms of storage, you get a 512GB PCIE Gen 4 SSD, which offers 4,200Mbps and 2,800Mbps in our test respectively and reads and writes the speed. If you want additional storage, there is also a second M.2 slot.

As the thermal, the CPU becomes quite toast, reaching 90 ° C, while the GPU goes above 85 ° C. These results are maximum temperature when both chips are emphasized, and you should not see such high temperatures during the use of day-to-day use. With most Asus gaming laptops, you can swap between different performance modes using Armary Cret Software, or using FN + F5 key combo. Similarly, you can use Armary Crate to control the keyboard RGB and togle the advanced optimus facility of Nvidia to enable or disable untrue GPU and swap between integrated graphics solutions.

Battery

The laptop has a 56WHR battery unit, which provides a limited run time for more than two hours, although your mileage may be different. Power brick has been rated at 150W and has an old school round barrel charging port. Asus says that the laptop can be used up to 100W using USB Type-C, although it may not be enough for gaming purposes.

Decision

According to Asus, there is a continuous demand for entry-to-middle-level gaming laptops in the Indian market. While this trim-down Tuf gaming makes F16 a welcome addition, it is located in a very strange place. The company launched the laptop as its new gaming V16 at a very similar price, reducing it only by Rs 76,990 for only Rs 80,990. Now he is telling something.

By itself, laptops should be good for most of your daily tasks, including video playback and streaming, school or office work, and even some basic multimedia editing. GPU is quite weak and will be much more suitable for ESPORTS title instead of sports with visual. In comparison, Acer Nitro V and even ASUS Gaming V16 offers a better package, although the latter price is priced at Rs 82,990.
