Huawei held a big launch event yesterday where we got the quad-powered Mate 70 series, the Mate X6 foldable, and the new MatePad Pro 13.2. They weren’t the only new devices to hit the stage, we also got the brand new FreeBuds Pro 4 – Huawei’s flagship TWS earbuds and a new Sapphire Gold edition of the Huawei Watch Ultimate design.
The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 4 are the first TWS buds from the brand to launch with the new HarmonyOS Next operating system. When paired with HarmonyOS 4.3 or newer Huawei devices, the FreeBuds Pro 4 can achieve 2.3Mbps lossless audio transmission with 48 kHz/24-bit audio.
The FreeBuds Pro 4 supports L2HC 4.0, HWA Lossless, and Hi-Res wireless certifications. Huawei teamed up with the Central Conservatory of Music for sound tuning on the dual 11mm acoustic drivers inside the FreeBuds Pro 4.
Huawei also claims up to 100dB of noise reduction, which is far higher than most TWS buds with ANC. Three-stage memory ear tips play a vital role in creating a proper seal around your ear canal. Huawei is also claiming class-leading call noise cancellation and spatial audio support.
The FreeBuds Pro 4 bring Huawei’s in-house Kirin A2 chip and work via Bluetooth 5.2, and support multi-device pairing. Huawei has also added head tracking with the buds which is able to capture head movements so you can answer a call by shaking your head or reject it by shaking your head.
The buds are IP54-rated. Huawei claims that you can listen for up to 7 hours on a single charge and up to 33 hours with the charging case.
The FreeBuds Pro 4 comes in Obsidian Black, Snow White and Spruce Green colors. Pricing is set CNY 1,499 ($208),
The price of the new Sapphire Gold Watch Ultimate is eye-watering CNY 23,999 ($3,320),
