Instagram DM (Direct Messenger) has been updated with new features. There are 17 new sticker packs, an updated DM sticker tray, and nicknames you can set for yourself and your group. Instagram has also added live location sharing and the ability to share your current location. Here’s a detailed look at it all new instagram features,
Live location sharing on Instagram
- you can share yours Live location via Instagram DM For up to an hour. You can also pin a location on the map so that your friend can see your current location.
- Live location sharing works in 1:1 and group chats just for an hourAfter that it will end and the feature will be turned off by default. Obviously, your location cannot be forwarded to other chats.
- Instagram will show an indicator at the top of your chat to let you know you’re sharing your live location. You can always turn it off whenever you want.

Instagram has added the ability to add nicknames for you and your friends in DMs. These nicknames are different from your username and will only appear in your chats. You can change your surname anytime and that of others too. Instagram also lets you decide who can change your nickname during a chat. This option will be set to People you follow by default but you can change it.

New sticker pack, updated DM sticker tray
Instagram has updated the DM sticker tray and you now have features like the ability to re-use a sticker from your chat by making it a favorite. It also adds 17 new sticker packs, which include over 300 stickers to choose from.
All the new Instagram features including location sharing, nicknames and new stickers are available in India. If you haven’t received them yet, you can try updating the app to the latest version.
