Many users around the world have complained that they are hearing strange noises and sounds on their iPhone, possibly due to a potential bug in iOS 18, which was announced this year. Specifically, users have described hearing conversations or sounds without any app activity, which raises questions about possible causes of the problem and privacy concerns.
Strange sounds, sounds coming from iPhone
- Recently on Reddit a user named u/OkStrawberry26 shared An unusual experience involving ghost sounds on iPhone 15.
- The user complained of suddenly hearing a man’s voice coming from the phone’s earpiece speaker, even when no applications were running on the device.
- According to the post, the voice appeared to be part of a conversation, which was suddenly interrupted by the sound of a car crash.
- Separately, another Reddit user said that while browsing Reddit, he heard the sound of workers talking in a warehouse.
- Similar to the previous post by the Reddit user, this time too there were no active applications running on the device.
Glitch raises privacy concerns among iPhone users
Although Apple has not yet officially acknowledged the issue, some users suggest that the issue may be linked to a bug in iOS 18. It’s worth noting that these incidents have raised concerns among iPhone users, with many users questioning the cause and potential privacy risks.
This is not the first time, in the past too many users have complained about phantom sounds from their devices. In January last year, a user wrote on Apple Discussions that he experienced random “duhdam” noises while using iMessage and Apple Music. Meanwhile, several users in the replies section said that they too have experienced similar issues.
Notably, Apple has recently released iOS 18.2 beta 3 and iOS 18.1, but the solutions to these issues are not mentioned. However, hopefully affected users may find a fix in the public release of iOS 18.2, which is expected to be released on December 9.
