Foldable and rolling display laptops are no longer completely novels, but we rarely see them in action. Last year, Lenovo showed a unique notebook with a transparent performance; However, its functionality was limited. This year, in the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, the company performed the Thinkbook Flip AI Concept PC with a foldable display, which is far more practical than many concepts I saw. We also discovered Lenovo’s magic bay accessories, who are aimed at the purpose of those who enjoy working with multi-display setup.
Here is a hand experience with Lenovo’s latest concept Prasad.
Thinkbook Flip AI Concept PC
Let’s start with the main attraction of Lenovo’s booth in MWC 2025 – Thinkbook Flip AI concept PC. After its rollable display laptop showcase in CES 2025, Lenovo’s latest recurrence provides similar functionality: a large performance in a compact form. As the name suggests, you can “flip” the display to enjoy a large viewing area.

In its standard form, the thinkbook flip AI concept offers PC 13.1 inch viewing area, which is sufficient for your daily work and basic internet browsing. But when it surfaced, this 18.1-inch spreads perfectly in the functional OLED touchscreen, which allows for easy multitasking, AI-powered features and a more adaptable workpiece.
To be fair, 18.1 inch vertical performance may seem excessive, and in some ways, it is. However, during my brief time with laptops, I was found to be well suitable for reading and basic browsing. Even the 91mobiles website looked great on Chrome, displayed most of the major sections without scrolling.

Additionally, Lenovo said that users could enjoy four more mode, unlocked by the bending of the display and touch support. For example;
- Clameshell mode allows users to work traditional laptops.
- The vertical mode is best for document review.
- The share mode helps with dual display collaboration (to run equally different apps on two screens).
- Tablet mode allows users to flip the back display backwards and use laptops as tablets.
In most cases, the thinkbook flip AI concept PC promises what it promises. In addition to the unique display tech, the laptop has a top notch hardware to ensure a smooth performance. The concept laptop in MWC includes an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, 32GB LPDDR5X memory and PCIE SSD storage. It also introduces a particular touchpad, which Lenovo calls “Smart Pumbers”. This allows users to switch between media control and NUMPAD. Thinkbook “Kodename Flip” AI PC concept features Thunderbolt 4 port and a fingerprint reader, stating that it is more than only one idea, and it can be a completely functional portable PC that can consider buying selected users.

However, before reaching the market, there are many basic issues that need to be addressed to Lenovo. For example, the display staggers when the display completely opens, and in some cases, the laptop may drip due to an uneven center of gravity. Lenovo has not shared details on battery life, but given the dual display setup, the performance in the region may be modest. In addition, the unique form factor adds extra weight, measuring 16.9 mm with the thinkbook “codename flip”, which cannot sit well with many users.
Magic bay performance concept
On the other hand, the magic bay concept looks far more practical, and I hope it is a hit in the market someday. This concept is again about adding additional displays to your thinkbook notebook. The dual-display concept consists of two 13.1 inch screens on both sides, which is magnetically attached. Like Apple’s ecosystem, these ownership portable displays are originally integrated with the main laptop display and can be controlled using the keyboard.

Since the accessories were shown in a controlled environment, I did not notice uneven color breeding or glitter. Each display moves an LCD with a 2.8k resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. To ensure that the laptop remains stable, the dual-display setup comes with a stand connected to the lid.

The magic bay display concept includes a compact 8-inch screen and a hello kitty-style round display for quick information and messages. It attaches to the top of the display using the same magnetic system. While its viewing area is much smaller than the larger side display, it is far more portable and practical for everyday tasks.
In addition to these concepts, Lenovo also showed a thinkbook with a rollable display, which was first shown in CES 2025.
