Oppo Find X8 vs OnePlus 12 performance comparison: Which flagship offers better performance?

To assess their performance, we tested both phones using benchmark scores and real-world scenarios. For benchmarks, we used popular tools like AnTuTu and Geekbench to measure overall performance. We also tested sustained performance using the Burnout benchmark app. We evaluated each phone’s gaming performance by measuring average FPS and tracking temperature rise.

The Geekbench benchmark test is a popular way to assess the CPU performance of a smartphone. The test is divided into two parts: single-core and multi-core. Single-core performance measures everyday tasks like web browsing and app loading, while multi-core performance focuses on more demanding activities like gaming, video editing, and photo editing.

The Find X8’s Geekbench results are much better than the OnePlus 12 in both multi-core and single-core tests. This shows that the Oppo handset can tackle tasks more effectively in every way. Whether you’re playing graphically intensive games, editing videos, or multitasking on the go, you’ll be better served by an Oppo handset if the benchmark figures are anything to go by.

AnTuTu

AnTuTu benchmark is a widely used tool to measure the overall performance of smartphones by testing various aspects like CPU, GPU, memory and user experience. It assigns separate scores to each category and ultimately combines these scores for an overall score.

The Find X8 comes out on top again with a better overall AnTuTu score. Based on the benchmark results, the phone should deliver better performance in CPU and GPU-based tasks. Our review also said that the Find X8 offers impeccable performance in day-to-day tasks and general navigation through the UI.

CPU throttling

CPU throttle testing helps us determine how well a device performs under sustained load and whether there is any performance throttling with high temperatures. We use the Burnout benchmark test, which, as its name suggests, performs a stress test to register the performance output of the phone’s processor under throttling.

The OnePlus 12 performed better in this test and managed to deliver better performance under heavy load. In this test the handset delivered 65.80 percent of its peak performance. In comparison, the Find X8 can manage 63.60 percent of its peak performance under the same load. Since it is quite a close contest, you will see that the real-world performance offered by both these phones will be quite similar in such a demanding scenario.

One of the best metrics to judge a phone’s real-world performance is simply by playing games. We played three moderately demanding games for 30 minutes at the same graphical settings on both phones to see which device performed better. Here are some average FPS numbers that show performance in each game:

As you can see, the OnePlus 12, despite being a capable handset, couldn’t keep up with the MediaTek Dimensity 9400-powered Oppo Find X8. Apart from thermal management, while the OnePlus handset performed impressively, the Oppo handset won by a good margin in most cases. If you are looking for a handset that offers better performance, the Find X8 is a clear choice here and offers great value for money. However, with the discount, you will be able to get the OnePlus handset at a much lower price than what Oppo is offering.
