Samsung has announced the launch of its latest budget smartphone, the Galaxy A05. The phone is priced at INR 9,999 (around $120) in India for the version with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage and INR 12,499 (around $150) for the variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. This is an entry-level smartphone but packs some impressive features.
Design and Display
The Galaxy A05 comes with a 6.5-inch display with HD+ resolution. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and gets decent brightness levels. The phone has a 20:9 aspect ratio and a waterdrop notch at the top. The phone is available in three colors: Black, Blue, and Green.
Hardware and Performance
The Galaxy A05 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G85 SoC. This is an octa-core processor with four Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz. The phone comes with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of storage. Storage is expandable up to 1TB via a microSD card.
Camera
The Galaxy A05 has a triple-camera setup on the back. The main sensor is a 50MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. It is accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. The phone can record 1080p videos at 30fps.
The front-facing camera is a 5MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. It can record 720p videos at 30fps.
Battery
The Galaxy A05 packs a 5000mAh battery. This is a large battery and should easily last you a day on a single charge. The phone supports 15W fast charging.
Software
The Galaxy A05 runs on Android 13 with One UI 5.0. Samsung has promised to provide two years of software updates and three years of security updates for the phone.

Availability
The Galaxy A05 is available to purchase in India starting from November 24, 2023. Samsung will be selling the phone through its online and offline stores, as well as through major e-commerce platforms.
