With the final data in our hands from the reactions of the participants, here is the summary of the final survey report.

- In the last one year, Samsung and Vivo have completed various price segments, from budget phones to premium flagship.
- Late, both brands have updated their phone lineups. Samsung released the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy A56, Galaxy F16, and some others, while Vivo, on the other hand, offered Vivo X200 series, Vivo T4, T4X, V50 series and others in 2025.

- Compared to last year’s survey data, Samsung’s ownership stake among respondents increased by 4 percent, which increased from 15.8 percent to 19.8 percent. It can be attributed to the brand launching popular phones in all price classes.
- On the other hand, brands such as OnePlus and Vivo saw a decrease of 1.1 percent and 1.2 percent in their number of users respectively.

- Samsung is expected to achieve the most users, the share in its ownership has increased from 19.8 percent to 25.2 percent.

How people decide on a new smartphone

- About 35 percent of current users will be upgraded to a new model if their current phone does not perform as it is used.

- More than 60 percent of the respondents upgrade their smartphone after two years, likely because most manufacturers have started offering long -term software support with their phones.
- 31 percent of users stick to the same smartphone for at least six months, but not more than two years.
- Only 8 percent of the respondents said that they change smartphones within six months.

- When it comes to doing research for a new phone, about 32.2 percent visit the respondents and go through gadget websites such as 91mobiles, MysmartPrice, GSMARENA, ETC.
- The survey -taking 22.7 percent see YouTube reviews to gain knowledge about smartphones they want to buy.
- Offline field is another important source to get information about smartphones available in the market.
The most matters when buying a new smartphone

- Performance and speed are the most important factors when purchasing a new smartphone for 39.3 percent of respondents, followed by cameras.
- The brand name also plays an important role when deciding on a new handset, which matters to 14.4 percent of respondents. A real -world example of this is in the last few quarters, according to the IDC, Apple has a huge rise of market share.

- When it comes to evaluating the performance of the phone, 38.3 percent of the respondents seek processor brand, such as MediaTek, Qualcomm, Exinance and others.
- The RAM capacity is evaluated by 21.8 percent surveyor, while processor clock speed is considered by 18.8 percent of users.
- Many people also take a look at the benchmark score from Antutu and the phone’s geekbench which they are ready to buy.

- Now, coming on cameras, camera resolution is the most important factor when evaluating the smartphone camera, at 29.2 percent.
- Video capabilities such as 4K videos, slow-motes, etc., for 21.4 percent of buyers, possibly due to increase in video content manufacturing and consumption in recent years.
- Asked about their priority for foldable or flip phones, 47.4 percent of people replied that they would go to a traditional slab phone.
- 34.8 percent will consider a foldable phone if the price and facilities are suitable for them.
- The remaining number of respondents will voluntarily buy a flip or foldable phone when it comes to the right time.
Flagship smartphones are looking at respondents

- Survey respondent was the most excited about the Samsung Galaxy S25 series this year, a host of AI features and a refreshing design on the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
- After the Galaxy S25 series, people are highly interested in the upcoming iPhone 17 series, which is rumored to consist of a new slim-designed model, iPhone 17 Air. The entire series is also expected to receive a design overhaul.
- Surprisingly, the respondents were more interested in iPhone 16E than the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7.
MIDRANGE smartphones are looking at respondents

- While the IQO NEO 10R has been released, 14.2 percent of the respondents were excited about its launch.
- After IQOO, many people are ready for the upcoming OnePlus Nord 5.
- Prior to launching in March 2025, anything phone (3A) series was also capable of drawing some attention.
How people like to buy a new smartphone

- Among the surveyors, most people currently own a smartphone between Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000.
- The segment of Rs 20,000 and Rs 30,000 is the second most popular price section.
- About 18 percent of the respondents have a phone, which costs Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000.

- We also asked the respondents what they do with their old smartphones. 26 percent of the phone owners claim that they exchange their old smartphones for a new discount on a new.
- 23.6 percent of the survey -taking families give their phone to a family member, while 21.8 percent keep the phone with themselves.
- Others sell their old phones on Kishifi, OLX, Quick and offline markets.

- 40 percent of the respondents said that they would buy an extended warranty scheme for their new smartphones, indicating that consumers prioritize security against possible damage.
- Almost similar part of the respondents said that they are not interested in buying any extended warranty for their smartphones, possibly due to the strong construction quality of their phone or the assurance of high prices of extended warranty schemes.
