Smart TV Buyer Insights Survey 2025: Summary
The price of the Indian television market was USD 12,267 million in the end of 2024. Custom market insight And only expected to grow from here. To better understand the market, we conducted the smart TV buyer Insights Survey 2025 in 91mobiles and asked more than 3,000 participants about their TV-fasting journey, their favorite brands and the most important aspects.
With the final data in our hands from the reactions of the participants, here is the summary of the final survey report.
Sony TV moves forward in terms of ownership
- From the results of our survey, we found that Sony is currently responsible for 23.4 percent of TV ownership among participants. This is followed by Samsung with a stake of 20.4 percent.

- Xiaomi and TCL also fulfill a good share of people with 12.8 percent and 3.5 percent shares respectively.
Sony’s ownership share saw an increase, while Wu’s ownership took a hit
- Compared to last year’s TV survey 91mobilesSony’s ownership among the respondents increased by 7.2 percent to 16.2 percent to 23.4 percent.
- Similarly, the userbase of Xiaomi and Samsung increased by 2.3 percent in each, while the ownership for Vu TV declined by 0.3 percent.
Sony and Samsung are winning when it comes to brand loyalty
- When the surveyors were asked if they would stick to their current brand for their next TV, 71.6 per cent Sony TV owners claimed that they would buy Sony TV again.
- Sony is Samsung with a brand of 63.7 percent just behind Sony, while Infinix and Hisense each has 50 percent brand loyalty.

- The main aspect of a TV, such as screen size, sound quality and connectivity options, also play an important role in choosing the right TV.
TV performance technology is given significant importance
- In 3,000 and above survey, performance technology is given top priority when evaluating a new TV. This includes analyzing techniques such as OLED, QLED, Fald, and others.
- After performance technology, about 21 percent of the people in the survey assess TV performance size when buying a new TV.
- Finally, 7.3 percent of the survey respondents also gave importance to the latest rate when evaluating TV performance.
TV is most commonly used for streaming OTT content
- The primary use of a TV for 68 percent of survey respondents is to access and stream OTT content from apps like Netflix, Gehotstar, Prime Video, etc.
- Since DTH connections are still common in Indian homes, 19 percent of TV owners have a set-top box to watch their favorite TV channels.
- Interestingly, 1.6 percent of users are engaged in sports on their TV.
UI and system navigation on a TV is an important aspect for the most
- Software goes a long way to create or break the experience of using TV. Therefore, when the surveyors were asked about the importance of user interfaces and navigation, 57 percent of them said that this aspect is ‘very important’.
- Around 25 percent of the users claimed that the user interface and navigation are ‘something important’, while 13.8 percent of them were at fence.
- Smart TV’s UI and navigation capabilities are not important for the remaining respondents.
Google TV tops the chart to be the most favorite operating system
- When it comes to the TV operating system preference, Google TV increases the competition with 79.3 percent of the votes falling in its favor. Google TV offers a content-oriented UI for users to easily know what to see based on their clock history
- Owning TV software of major brands such as Tizen OS (Samsung), WebOS (LG), Fire TV OS (Amazon), Jio Tele OS, and others is preferred by 14.3 percent of the contestants in total.
Video and audio enhancement features are in great demand
- To understand and know which new age features are the most demanding, we provided with several options to the surveyors, of which video enhancement features such as Dolby Vision IQ, HDR 10+, etc. were selected by 56 percent of the people.
- Dolby Atomos, DTS: X, and similar audio facilities are considered important for 19.3 percent of respondents.
The ownership of 32 -inch TVS declined significantly, while TV watched a lot of growth with 43 -inch performance
- TV is the most popular TV with 32 inches or below screen size that is currently taking survey. But it is interesting that 32 -inch TV has been owned by about half as compared to last year, where about 51 percent of the respondents had the above performance size TVs in our 2024 TV survey.
- The 43 -inch TV ranks as the second most popular size among users. This year’s survey reveals almost double -owned share for a 43 -inch TV compared to last year, reflecting a significant increase in their popularity.
- Those taking 17.2 percent and 14.7 percent survey have TVs with a performance size of 50-inch and 55 inch, while only 3.1 percent is 75 inches or above TV.
55 -inch TVs can watch high growth in future
- 24.2 percent of the survey -taking 55 -inch performance is ready to buy a TV with a performance size, while one of the five inch TVs is also likely to consider one of the five people.
- When buying a new TV, about 15 percent is ready to take TV with a 65 -inch screen size.
- The 40-inch and screen-shaped TVs are in the minimum demand.
Survey respondents buy TVs or offline depending on the price
- If the price of TV is the same online and offline, then the survey -taking about 50 percent can buy TVs from offline shops, while 40 percent will resort to online platforms.
- If the price of the TV is Rs 1,000 cheaper than the offline, 57.6 percent of the respondents stick to e-commerce platforms to buy TVs, while 31.5 percent of survey participants can shop for TV from retail shops.
- If the price of TV is Rs 1,000 cheaper than online, 67.7 percent of the respondents go to offline shops to buy TVs, while 19.5 percent of survey participants resort to online platforms.
