On July 3, 2024, Reliance Jio, a leading Indian telecom network, surprised many customers by silently removing several prepaid plans after recently increasing prices. These plans weren’t included in the price hike, leading many to believe they would still be available.
The removed plans include a variety offering data benefits, OTT subscriptions (like SonyLIV and Disney+ Hotstar), and data vouchers. Here’s a breakdown of some of the discontinued plans:
- Annual Plans with bundled OTT subscriptions:
- Rs 3,662 plan (2.5GB daily data, 365 days validity, SonyLIV & Zee5)
- Rs 3,226 plan (2GB daily data, 365 days validity, SonyLIV)
- Rs 3,225 plan (2GB daily data, 365 days validity, Zee5)
- Rs 2,999 plan (2.5GB daily data, 365 days validity)
- Rs 909 plan (2GB daily data, 84 days validity, SonyLIV & Zee5)
- Rs 806 plan (2GB daily data, 84 days validity)
- Rs 805 plan (Zee5 subscription)
- Rs 3,178 plan (2GB daily data, 365 days validity, Disney+ Hotstar)
- Rs 3,227 plan (2GB daily data, 365 days validity, Prime Video)
- Rs 4,498 plan (2GB daily data, 365 days validity, 78GB bonus data, JioTV Premium)
- Other Removed Plans:
- Rs 398 plan (JioTV Premium)
- Rs 1,198 plan (JioTV Premium)
- Rs 4,498 plan (JioTV Premium)
- Rs 331 plan (40GB data, 30 days validity, Disney+ Hotstar)
- Data voucher plans (Rs 555, Rs 667, Rs 2878)
This means customers who enjoyed these bundled subscriptions will need to pay extra for them separately. Additionally, Jio removed annual plans offering 1.5GB and 2GB of daily data. The popular Rs 1,559 plan has been replaced with a more expensive Rs 1,899 plan, and it no longer includes unlimited 5G data. Similarly, the Rs 61 5G data booster pack is now priced at Rs 69 and doesn’t offer unlimited 5G data.
What does this mean for Jio customers?
Jio customers looking to recharge with these plans will be disappointed to learn they are no longer available. This move may push users towards other providers offering similar benefits or force them to pay more for individual subscriptions like Disney+ Hotstar or SonyLIV.
- The Rs 2,999 pack has been removed. This came with 365 days of validity and 2.5GB of data each day.
- The Rs 909 plan is discontinued. However, it offered 84 days of validity, 2GB each day and SonyLIV and Zee5 OTT subscriptions.
- The Jio Rs 806 pack is removed. It offered 84 days of validity and 2GB of data each day. Similarly, the Rs 805 pack is also removed. This came with a Zee5 subscription.

- Jio Rs 3,227 plan has been removed but this offered 365 days of validity, 2GB per day and Prime Video subscription.
What this means is that customers will no longer get access to SonyLIV, Disney+ Hotstar, and Zee5 subscriptions bundled with the plans. Jio removed the annual packs that offered 1.5GB/2GB daily data packs. The popular Rs 1,559 plan has now become the Rs 1,899 and this time there is no unlimited 5G data option as well. The Rs 61 5G data booster pack is now Rs 69 and there’s no unlimited 5G.
The Rs 398, Rs 4,498, and Rs 1,198 that came with JioTV Premium are no longer available to recharge for customers. The Rs 331 plan that offered 40GB of data and 30 days of validity has been removed. This plan offered a subscription to Disney+ Hotstar subscription. Data voucher plans, including Rs 555, Rs 667, and Rs 2878, are also missing from the prepaid plans list.
